FORGED FROM NECESSITY

Om of the Brave is my rebirth.

After three decades in the military, countless medications for pain, anxiety, PTSD, and nerve damage had kept me a pharmaceutical prisoner of war. Fifteen deployments, injuries, and gruelling flights took their toll on my body and mind. Desperate for healing, I turned to Yoga, Mindfulness, and Meditation, and they transformed me. Om is not just my story—it's a sanctuary for all trauma survivors seeking peace and wellness.

MY STORY

Hi, I'm Mark

Mark Om of the brave Holistic Health for Veterans

With 34 years in the US Army, including 15 deployments, I've served as an interpreter, Medevac, and Air Assault Pilot, and Commander.

My life has been steeped in military culture—as The Grandson of an Army Soldier, Son of an Air Force Airman, Army Soldier, Army father, and Army Spouse. Beyond my Reserve duties, I've pursued careers as a geologist and commercial helicopter pilot, roles that have challenged me physically, emotionally, and spiritually.

After enduring a helicopter crash in Iraq in 2006 and subsequent injuries, I turned to yoga, meditation, and mindfulness to cope with chronic pain, depression, substance abuse, and sleep disturbances. These practices, alongside a blend of science, natural remedies, and supportive individuals, have been instrumental in my journey to becoming the healthy and content person I am today.

THROUGHOUT MY CAREER

As a third-generation veteran

with 34 years of service in both the reserves and active duty in the U.S. Army, my life has been a tapestry of global experiences that taught me the value of cultural fluency from a young age.

My career as a military and commercial pilot for over two decades has been a privilege, allowing me to witness the world's wonders and respond to its crises. Since childhood, when I first aspired to pilot helicopters, I've been blessed to live my dream, despite the physical sacrifices it demanded.

My journey with yoga began after a helicopter crash in Iraq in 2006, when I was introduced to it as a form of rehabilitation. The practice not only alleviated my neck and back injuries but also led me to explore the depths of breathwork, meditation, and the healing power of plants and homeopathic remedies—tools that have been instrumental in addressing the trauma I've encountered. These timeless healing practices have been transformative, and I am eager to share the serenity and insights they've brought into my life.
